Catalytic Fund
Fueling Bold Ideas & Timely Action
The Catalytic Fund is designed to provide strategic, responsive funding to organizations and initiatives that support movement building and culture change projects and align with The Carmack Collective’s mission. This fund allows us to act quickly, supporting time-sensitive opportunities, scaling proven solutions, and investing in ideas that have the potential to drive meaningful change.
What We Fund
Catalytic grants are designed to be flexible, addressing a range of needs that advance our shared goals. Grants may support:
- Emerging Opportunities – New ideas or initiatives that require a fast infusion of funding to get off the ground.
- Scaling Impact – Organizations with a strong track record looking to expand their reach or deepen their effectiveness.
- Ecosystem Strengthening – Collaborative efforts that build capacity across a field or sector.
- Equity & Innovation – Projects that challenge the status quo, center marginalized communities, and test bold, new approaches.
How It Works
The Catalytic Fund operates as a discretionary fund, meaning there is no formal application process. Instead, we proactively identify opportunities and invite organizations to receive funding. Grants may range in size based on the scope and potential impact of the project.
Funding may be:
- One-Time Grants – For short-term, high-impact initiatives.
- Renewable Support – Select grants may be eligible for multi-year commitments based on demonstrated results.
- General or Project-Based – Depending on the needs of the organization and the nature of the opportunity.
Our Approach
We believe that timing matters. The Catalytic Fund allows us to respond when resources are most needed – whether that means investing in an idea before traditional funders are ready or supporting a proven model at a critical moment of growth.
We work closely with our partners to understand where funding can make the greatest difference and prioritize initiatives that are strategic, scalable, and sustainable.
We are looking for projects that run the gamut from traditional communications and movement building campaigns to innovative one-off projects that are taking a bold stance against the fossil fuel industry. So whether you are starting a podcast, writing a zine, staging a sit-in, or creating independent or original content, we want to hear from you.
How to Connect
While there is no formal application process, we welcome conversations with organizations doing work that aligns with our mission.
